Hyperfocus

How to Be More Productive in a World of Distraction
By Chris Bailey

A practical guide to managing your attention–the most powerful resource you have to get stuff done, become more creative, and live a meaningful life

Our attention has never been as overwhelmed as it is today. Many of us recognize that our brains struggle to multitask. Despite this, we feel compelled to do so anyway while we fill each moment of our lives to the brim with mindless distraction. Hyperfocus provides profound insights into how you can best take charge of your attention to achieve a greater sense of purpose and productivity throughout the day.

The most recent neuroscientific research reveals that our brain has two powerful modes that can be unlocked when we use our attention effectively: a focused mode (hyperfocus), which is the foundation for being highly productive, and a creative mode (scatterfocus), which enables us to connect ideas in novel ways. Hyperfocus helps you access each of the two mental modes so you can concentrate more deeply, think more clearly, and work and live more deliberately every day. Chris Bailey examines such topics such as:

  • identifying and dealing with the four key types of distraction and interruption
  • establishing a clear physical and mental environment in which to work
  • controlling motivation and working fewer hours to become more productive
  • taking time-outs with intention
  • multitasking strategically
  • learning when to pay attention and when to let your mind wander wherever it wants to.

By transforming how you think about your attention, Hyperfocus reveals that the more effectively you learn to take charge of it, the better you’ll be able to manage every aspect of your life.

Dental Front Desk Mastery Guide

By Sage Adams

Why I Wrote this Book and Why you Should Read It

I developed a comprehensive training program for dental front desk for a DSO in New York. It was a powerful learning experience for me, having never developed training programs for this specific niche before. It was also very successful. I liked it so much I decided to specialize in DSO training. In fact, I will have a website (dsotraining.com) devoted to this very topic in the near future. This book is a distillation of the best practices for dental front desk learned through that comprehensive experience. I feel these best practices are so strong and so universal that reading this book will be well worth the small amount of effort required to read it for anyone who works in dental or with dental practices.

What This Book is About

This book is the first in a two-part series. In this book we’ll discuss the skills needed for a dental PSR (front desk representative). This material serves as an excellent introduction for new PSRs, to get them familiar with the topics, skills, and duties expected of them in their job.

Some of the things in this training might not be applicable to your particular training needs but most of it will be. I have purposely remained vague with certain concepts such as the dental management software (DMS) used. Insurance rules also for your state or country might be slightly different than what’s outlined here. But the basic skills will apply to all dental PSRs.

If new PSRs learn – and consistently work to master – the skills outlined in this book they will become effective and powerful PSRs.

This book is unique on two levels. First, there just aren’t books about dental front desk. I searched on Amazon and wasn’t able to find anything. Google also didn’t net any books on the subject. The only material I was able to find online were some articles on specific dental front desk topics, many of which I’ll reference and link to in this book.

This book is also unique because of its strong emphasis on communication and feedback channels which even the articles on Google didn’t emphasize with as much importance as I think the subject deserves.

Who This Book is For

This book is written primarily for four audiences: existing and new dental front desk staff, also known as PSRs (patient service representatives), designers of dental front desk training, and DSO (dental service organization) management.

To all you great PSRs out there who day after day spend your time making patients feel comfortable and getting them ready for often arduous and frightening dental experiences will find the material in this book familiar but will hopefully pick up some new tips and best practices you may not have known before.

For you new PSRs who want to know how to best perform on the job and do the job most effectively, but haven’t been fully trained yet (or ever) – this book will lay the groundwork for how to be successful in your job.

This book lays out everything needed to succeed wildly in the dental PSR job and other designers will learn a great deal from this book regarding what’s needed for an effective training program.

Finally, the material in this book can be adopted and adapted to fit the particular needs of your dental organization. And so DSO management will also find the material in this book valuable as they seek to maximize the effectiveness of their front desk work force.

Relationships 101

What Every Leader Needs To Know
By John Maxwell

GET MORE NEW PATIENTS

After reading you will know:

  • How to break free from the 3 major tensions facing private practice
  • How to increase new ideal patient flow
  • How to market to the virtually untouched fee-for-service market
  • How to find the freedom and financial stability in your dental practice you never thought possible

New patients are the life blood and catalyst for growth for any dental practice. Then why is it that when I talk to Dentists all over the country, the vast majority are having trouble finding and getting new patients in the door? To compensate, more and more Dentists are signing up with dental insurance plans in the hope that this will help bring in more new patients. The unfortunate part of this strategy is that corporate dental groups are
leveraging their size and power in negotiating higher reimbursements for themselves while reimbursement rates for the solo practitioner keep getting less and less.

What are we as a group to do?

For my practice, the answer to this question led me to discover a nearly unlimited and untapped market of fee-for-service patients who want and value their dental health but have a significant hurdle to coming in to see a private practice doctor. That’s why I wrote this book. It identifies what that hurdle to getting these patients in the door is, as well as provides you a solution to the problem that over a two year period, allowed me to add over $1,400,000 in revenue to my practice. It helped get me out of the dental insurance business and I know it can do the same for you!

Drawing on 30 years of expertise, Fred explains how to take a hard look at your practice to assess what’s working, adjust what’s not, and create a practice experience patients can’t help but rave about.

Filled with real-world examples, Becoming Remarkable covers a wide range of topics including:

  • Keys to building (and keeping) a five-star team
  • Embracing new technology – both in and out of your practice

Fred lays out an easy-to-follow framework for embracing the future of dentistry and building a practice that patients will choose, stay with, and recommend. It’s a must-hear for the whole team and a sure-fire recipe for long-term practice success.
